4-H

In all New Hampshire communities, 4-H helps young people acquire knowledge, develop life skills and form attitudes that help them become self-directed, productive, contributing members of society. 4-H leaders guide youth through the fun learning process. 

4-H has been a part of the Hopkinton State Fair for 101 years with 4-Hers entering their first exhibits in 1917.

Friday, August 31
9:00 am-9:00 pm: Ruth Kimball 4-H Exhibit Hall Opens
9:00 am: 4-H Working Steer Show, Hood Arena
9:00 am: 4-H Horse Show, Nelson Complex
10:00 am: 4-H Sheep Show Blocking and Trim
10:00 am: 4-H Goat Show, Indoor Ring
2:00 pm-4:00 pm: 4-H Action Demonstrations, Farm-A-Rama
7:00 pm: 4-H Forestry Contest, Hood Arena

Saturday, September 1
8:00 am: 4-H Working Steer Show, Durgin Arena
8:00 am: 4-H Dog Show, Livestock Tent
9:00 am-9:00 pm: Ruth Kimball 4-H Exhibit Hall Opens
9:00 am: 4-H Sheep Show, Indoor Ring
11:00 am: 4-H Swine Show, Ring at Swine Barn

10:00 am-12:00 pm: 4-H Action Demonstrations, Farm-A-Rama
11:00 am NH 4-H Livestock Auction Market Classes – Ring at Swine Barn
1:00 pm: NH 4-H Livestock Auction – Ring at Swine Barn

You can also see 4-Hers, volunteers, and friends hard at work in the two 4-H food concessions on grounds, The 4-H Country Kitchen (log cabin located just behind the fair office) and the 4-H Ice Cream Parlor (located on the end of the milking parlor). Proceeds from these buildings goes directly back into supporting 4-H youth programming in Merrimack County.
